CCG/ZGDV took part at UMinho Research & Innovation Open Days, held from 22 to 23 September at the Gualtar Campus in Braga. Over the two-day event, we presented technologies developed through several research and innovation projects, with applications in healthcare, energy, mobility, textiles and clothing, and industry.
The initiative brought together researchers, companies, entrepreneurs, investors, students and decision-makers, fostering connections between the knowledge generated at the University of Minho and the wider innovation ecosystem. The Technology Showcase featured more than 50 prototypes and solutions linked to 25 Mobilising Agendas, representing an overall investment of around €75 million.
CCG/ZGDV participated through the Health from Portugal, ATE, Be.Neutral, TEXP@CT and PRODUTECH R3 projects, presenting solutions based on Artificial Intelligence, Virtual and Augmented Reality, simulation, data analysis and quality, computer vision and other digital technologies.
Within Health from Portugal, we demonstrated solutions for remote monitoring and rehabilitation using gamification, alongside Virtual and Augmented Reality applications to support surgery, patient recovery and medical training.
In the energy sector, through ATE – Alliance for the Energy Transition, we presented tools designed to support data integration and quality, as well as explainable Artificial Intelligence solutions for data analysis and decision-making.
Our participation in the Be.Neutral agenda showcased technologies for more efficient and sustainable mobility, including multimodal journey planning, shared bicycle network rebalancing and the delivery of content on public transport according to location and journey context.
In the textiles and clothing sector, the TEXP@CT project presented an intelligent system for the robotic alignment of textile pieces, using computer vision and image processing to automatically determine their position and orientation.
Through PRODUTECH R3, we demonstrated industry technologies, ranging from automated defect detection and production planning support to failure prediction and industrial process simulation.
Visitors also had the opportunity to interact with the CCG/ZGDV intelligent avatar, a multilingual virtual solution capable of detecting the user’s presence, answering questions in context and communicating through synchronised speech and facial expressions.
Our participation in the UMinho Research & Innovation Open Days gave us an opportunity to present our teams' work, share knowledge, and identify new opportunities for collaboration with companies, researchers, and other organisations across the ecosystem. It also enabled us to demonstrate, in a real-world setting, how applied research and digital technologies can help address specific challenges faced by organisations and society.
