Sustainability and circular economy

The new paradigms enhance the maximization of the economic value of the product and, simultaneously, pose a challenge for the different sectors of national economic activity, based on the adoption of strategies for reducing, reusing, recovering and recycling materials and energy, promoting the decoupling between economic growth and the increase in resource consumption.

The CCG/ZGDV Institute supports the development and implementation of innovative technologies and solutions, with a view to including sustainable practices. We are committed to creating integrative platforms, innovative processes and value chain systems. The implementation of intelligent systems for resource management and the use of big data and AI analyzes to optimize processes and reduce environmental impact, while simultaneously allowing traceability of the entire production process, in an efficient and sustainable way, are technological examples that drive the transition to a more circular economy.

Challenges and Opportunities

  • Difficulty implementing inclusive and equitable circular economy practices, benefiting all segments of society
  • Increase in the number of actions to encourage the adoption of sustainable practices by companies and individuals
  • Existence of funds and political strategies to support research and development, as a driver of innovation in sustainable technologies and practices

  • Existence of economic and regulatory barriers that discourage the adoption of circular economy practices
  • Creation of new jobs and industries in the field of sustainable manufacturing, resource management and renewable energy

  • Growing need to address waste management, namely reducing its quantity

Strategies

  • Promote economic growth through the development and adoption of technologies and practices that contribute to sustainability
  • Reduce environmental impact and preserve natural resources for future generations
  • Promote innovation and collaboration between stakeholders from academia, public administration and industry

  • Support the transition to a low-carbon economy and achieve climate goals, based on innovation
  • Encourage public-private partnership initiatives to support sustainable innovation and growth
