FRAMEWORK
CeSDHR (Centre for Structured Data in Health Research) aims to create a robust and innovative infrastructure for research data management in the health sciences in Portugal. This project, led by the CCG/ZGDV Institute, in partnership with 2CA-Braga and ACMP5, aims to respond to critical challenges in data management, including data interoperability, maturity and semantics
By establishing a structured approach to data management and sharing, the CeSDHR aligns itself with national and European Open Science initiatives and the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles, ensuring that research results are accessible, reusable and valuable in various scientific fields. With this approach, the CeSDHR aims to increase the efficiency of health research by making clinical data from studies promoted by researchers openly available
PROPOSED SOLUTIONS
The CeSDHR's main aim is to revolutionise the way health data is managed, integrated and shared, contributing to the advancement of research and clinical practice, with the following objectives in mind:
- Development of a robust infrastructure for health data: Implement a centralised platform to manage, store and share structured health data. An infrastructure designed to support the integration of study data, promoting the use of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles.
- Promoting open science and transparency: Fostering a culture of open science by making datasets securely available to the scientific community. This practice will allow data to be reused in new studies and will facilitate the validation and replication of studies, contributing to the continuous improvement of scientific practice
- Capacity building and training in data management: Organising training sessions focused on best practices in health data management and sharing, as well as the use of international standards and security protocols. This initiative aims to equip researchers and health professionals with the necessary skills for effective data management, promoting excellence in research
- Participation in the National Data Stewards Network: This objective aims to encourage the exchange of experiences, the implementation of good practices and the harmonisation of data management processes, strengthening the health research ecosystem
- Innovation and improvement in health research: Provide rich, semantically structured data, which will support the development of new diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive approaches, promoting efficiency and innovation in healthcare
CCG/ZGDV CONTRIBUTION
The CCG/ZGDV acts as the leading entity of this GDI Centre (Competence Centre for Research Data Management)
By using its vast experience and expertise in data interoperability, maturity and semantics (including ontologies) to strengthen the data management and sharing capabilities of the institutions involved, it ensures the development of the platform and the effective application of the principles of open science and data sharing
