Cybersecurity and Cyber-resilience were under debate at CPES/SERIW

On February 4th, the Altamiro Machado Auditorium of the CCG/ZGDV hosted the third edition of the CPES/SERIW 2025 event, bringing together experts and researchers to discuss the challenges and impacts of cybersecurity and cyber-resilience in software engineering and the scientific dimension.

This edition addressed the impacts on the present and future of physical and digital cybersecurity through various technologies and the dimensions and concerns that should be considered to safeguard people and institutions.

The event was divided into two panels with the participation of researchers and representatives of institutions linked to the topic. The first panel talked about "Impacts and challenges that Cybersecurity and Cyber-resilience bring to Software Engineering, Machines and Education", which was attended by Marco Teixeira (UMinho Cybersecurity Center), Ana Dias (TecMinho), Henrique Santos (UMinho/DSI), Vitor Fonte (UMinho/DI) and moderated by Pedro Ribeiro (UMinho and CCG/ZGDV Institute).

Francisco Duarte (UMinho and CCG/ZGDV Institute) moderated the second panel, "Cybersecurity and Cyber-resilience in the Scientific Dimension," which included João Barbas from Instituto da Defesa Nacional, António Costa from Centro Nacional de Cibersegurança - Portuguese National Cybersecurity Centre, Rafael Silva from Checkmarx, Marta Santos Silva from UMinho, Tiago Pedrosa from IPB and CCG/ZGDV Institute, and Henrique Santos from UMinho/DSI.

The panels focused on emerging threats, security best practices, and initiatives to strengthen the protection of data and digital infrastructures, and how various emerging technologies can shape new generations and education.
