The PRODUTECH R3 mobilising agenda is an initiative to transform the Production Technologies Sector (FTP) structurally. CCG/ZGDV participates in three key projects: DigiIndustry, Industry-UP, and SmartIL. These projects focus on process digitalisation, predictive maintenance, and intelligent automation, driving industrial efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness.
DigiIndustry
DigiIndustry (WP10) 's main goal is the digitalisation of industrial processes in the manufacturing sector, with applications in the wood industry (Sonae Arauco) and the packaging industry (Colep Packaging).
The CCG/ZGDV Institute contributes by optimising production scheduling and sequencing algorithms, reducing setup times, downtime, and energy consumption. These algorithms are complemented by machine learning models that analyse operational data to predict defects and prevent unexpected failures, thereby increasing overall efficiency. Moreover, digital simulation of industrial processes enables testing different scenarios without interrupting real operations, optimising planning and minimising waste.
Simultaneously, a computer vision system is being developed that can identify and classify defects in plywood boards, enabling more rigorous quality control and waste reduction.
Industry-UP
Industry-UP (WP16) 's mission is to extend and enhance the lifecycle of industrial equipment by developing a scalable predictive maintenance platform.
The CCG/ZGDV Institute is collaborating with CEI (Companhia de Equipamentos Industriais) by collecting and analysing data from specific equipment and with Pibra by applying the same approach to other machinery. With advanced technology, this solution enables continuous monitoring of machine conditions, anticipating failures, and optimising interventions.
By providing detailed metrics and intelligent insights into equipment condition, Industry-UP promotes more efficient and resilient production and a more sustainable industrial sector, reducing waste and operational costs.
Smart Intralogistics
Under the Smart Intralogistics (WP9) initiative, CCG/ZGDV is exploring a new generation of support systems for the teleoperation of forklift robots. These systems are designed to transform movement in congested industrial environments and optimise truck loading.
The solution combines operator remote control with semi-autonomous driving assistance features and multimodal feedback, fostering safer, more efficient, and intuitive operation. This system will allow for swift, remote interventions, assisting in executing tasks that cannot be performed autonomously.
In conclusion, the PRODUTECH R3 mobilising agenda represents a significant step towards modernising the FTP, establishing a new paradigm for the sector. By integrating advanced technologies, optimising industrial processes, and practically demonstrating innovative solutions, these initiatives strengthen the connection between research and industry, accelerating innovation and boosting business competitiveness.
