The CCG/ZGDV Institute, in partnership with 2CA Braga and the P5 Digital Medicine Centre, is organising Research Data Week, an initiative composed of a series of thematic webinars addressing the challenges and opportunities of science and health in the digital age. Taking place on 22, 24 and 25 September, this week of knowledge sharing and reflection will bring together national and international experts to foster dialogue on open science, data management, and the technologies that support research.
The first session, on 22 September at 2:00 PM, will be dedicated to the theme “Open Science in Practice: Principles, Policies and Tools”, featuring Pedro Príncipe (Re.Data / University of Minho) and Pedro Sobral (FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology). This session aims to highlight the importance of open science as a new paradigm of knowledge production and sharing, underlining the benefits of transparency, collaboration, and accessibility for scientific progress.
The second session, on 24 September at 2:00 PM, will address the theme “Data Management in Health”, with contributions from Nadine Santos (School of Medicine, University of Minho), Pedro Oliveira (2CA – Braga) and Eduarda Correia (2CA – Braga). The speakers will reflect on the specific challenges of managing data in a clinical context, where security, privacy, and information quality play a crucial role in developing more efficient, patient-centred medical practices.
The third and final session, on 25 September at 2:00 PM, entitled “Research Data Management: Technologies and Tools”, will feature Raman Ganguly (University of Vienna) and Manuel Rodrigues (ALGORITMI Centre / University of Minho). This panel will explore emerging technological solutions that enable more effective and integrated management of research data, highlighting the role of digital infrastructures in supporting scientific innovation and global collaboration.
Through this initiative, CCG/ZGDV, 2CA Braga, and the P5 Digital Medicine Centre reinforce their role as drivers of technological progress and innovation. Each session will be followed by a discussion with the audience, encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue and contributing to the valorisation of scientific research through the responsible and effective use of data. Research Data Week thus represents a space for reflection and learning that strengthens the connection between science, technology, and health, with direct impact on society.
