FRAMEWORK

The I2AM project aims to modernize and advance technology through innovation and the introduction of information technologies in the aeronautical industry, specifically in the context of industrial aircraft modification maintenance.

The project's challenges include maintaining all technological development in full compliance with the high standards of aeronautical regulations in general. The innovation employed will have to introduce these new technologies in areas that are typically not very permissive to new ideas and tools due to the huge set of rules that must be respected.

PROPOSED SOLUTION

Application of new disruptive technologies  in aeronautical industrial maintenance context, meeting the following results:

  • Implementation of new technologies: Artificial Intelligence algorithms, simulation based on digital twin, digitalization, and application of computer vision technologies (AR and VR)

  • Rapid prototyping and “3D printing” processes and technologies applied to the modification of aircraft and equipment
  • Carrying out studies on human factors and technology usability in the aeronautical industry
  • Digitization of information and adoption of “paperless” methodologies in the industrial context
  • Compliance with civil aeronautical regulations (Part-145)

CCG/ZGDV CONTRIBUTION

CCG/ZGDV contributes to the I2AM project through the I&I, CVIG, and HTIR departments by developing and applying RA, VR, and RM technologies to increase efficiency in collecting elements for aircraft modification.

Validation of virtual prototypes:

  • Virtual reality-based solution for cockpit prototyping (digital refinement before production), which allows continuous iteration between conception and validation, meeting a human-centered approach

Remote and computer assistance, with mixed reality and augmented reality technologies

  • Solution based on augmented reality for remote assistance centered on aviation maintenance operations (borescope inspection) and with holographic visualization of information (from the worker on-site to the remote inspector)
