Creative Smart Cities 2025: Thinking about the cities of the future with purpose, technology and inclusion
12 May, 2025

The CCG/ZGDV Institute is hosting the Creative Smart Cities 2025 edition, which aims to bring together scientific knowledge, technological innovation and urban policies, promoting broad and strategic reflection on the challenges that shape contemporary and future cities.

On May 20, the CCG/ZGDV Institute auditorium in Guimarães will host another edition of Creative Smart Cities. This event brings together experts, public decision-makers, researchers and innovative companies to reflect on the challenges and opportunities that shape the cities of the future. In a world undergoing rapid transformation, where urbanisation, digitalisation and sustainability go hand in hand, Creative Smart Cities brings together experts, companies, public decision-makers, researchers and entrepreneurs to discuss key issues in today's society, from the digital transition to energy efficiency, from connected mobility to mental health in urban communities, including more innovative construction models and more inclusive and people-centered cities.

The initiative highlights emerging technologies such as Iot, 5G, and urban data, addressing their transformative potential for urban systems and citizens' quality of life. At the same time, it will provide a platform for human and social visions, with debates on collective health and well-being in cities and the active participation of communities in urban design.

During the sessions, experiences, projects and multidisciplinary approaches will be shared that reflect new paradigms in the relationship between space, technology and society, highlighting how innovation can be applied in a sustainable, inclusive and responsible.

The event will feature the participation of leading national entities, including universities, local authorities, technology companies and startups, promoting an open dialogue between the public, private, and academia. The CCG/ZGDV, as co-organiser, reaffirms its commitment to being a bridge between science and society, contributing to the creation of more resilient urban ecosystems prepared for future challenges.

Participation is free, subject to prior registration. The invitation is open to all those interested in smarter, more humane and sustainable cities — because thinking about the future of cities is, above all, thinking about the future of our collective life.
