CCG/ZGDV Institute supports an FP10 geared towards improving EU’s Industrial Leadership
3 September, 2024

A group of 110 European associations representing key European R&I stakeholders published a joint statement on the future research and innovation programme of the European Union, FP10. Co-signatories include BDVA, EFFRA, AIOTI and ADRA Associations of which the CCG/ZGDV Institute is a member.

The CCG/ZGDV Institute fully supports the messages of the paper urging the European Institutions to significantly increase the budget of Horizon Europe´s successor and prioritise the programme’s Pillar II, which aims at improving EU´s industrial and digital leadership and stimulate private investment.

To further support EU Competitiveness, FP10 must focus on excellent cross-border collaborative RD&I, with a strong industrial participation. To do so, the focus on competitiveness must be reinforced in Pillar II, and should similarly be a key driver for activities in Pillar I and Pillar III.

Pillar II is crucial to:

  • Build long-term trust-based public-private partnerships (PPPs) amongst various European RD&I actors, an indispensable element in strengthening Europe’s RD&I ecosystems. This ensures the industry’s uptake of novel technologies and scale-up into new solutions, products and services. The FP’s current Pillar II, containing the key EU industrial partnerships, especially the co-programmed and institutionalised partnerships, supports this ambition.
  • Reduce risk and uncertainty and stimulate European private investment by demonstrating the EU’s support for technology-intensive sectors. This would give the right incentives for industry to invest in RD&I in Europe, rather than in third countries and to support the delivery of the EU green and digital transitions.

The CCG/ZGDV Institute will continue contributing to the dialogue on FP10, together with the community and EU decision-makers, to ensure a successful programme.
